How to choose the right psychologist?
I believe that a trusting and positive relationship with your psychologist is the basis for successful therapy. Even before an initial meeting, it is possible for you to start screening potential therapists by personal and professional criteria that may be important to you in your psychotherapist. Such criteria can be concreate factors, such as if it is important to you that your therapist is a male psychologist, or a female psychologist; is a native English speaking psychologist; is a clinical psychologist; or, is a psychotherapist who offers a specific type of therapy, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or short term therapy. Finding a psychotherapist who meets such criteria does not ensure that there will be a good connection between you and your therapist, but it can be a good place to start.
